Good old pinball

Windows XP and some other versions of Windows had a really nice pinball game. Oh, you should remember it. It was one of the standard preinstalled games in Accessories.

This post is for those who’d love to play the game again.

The full name of the game is 3D Pinball for Windows: Space Cadet.

I personally think it’s a great game. I play it sometimes on my Windows 7.

So, without any additional words, here’s the link for the game:

It runs perfectly on Windows Vista and 7.

A Better Version?

However, the pinball game has a significant disadvantage. It’s screen resolution is pretty low. It’s 640 x 480 pixels and that’s it.

If you have a nice Full HD display, the game is either too tiny for you to see the details, or too ugly if you play it in fullscreen mode.

But fear not. Space Cadet from Windows XP is actually a crippled version of another game.

Full Tilt! Pinball originally developed by Maxis features three “tables” to play on. Space Cadet is just one of them. I’ve personally never liked the other two, but give it a try – maybe you’ll like them.

The nicest thing about the game is that it supports several screen resolutions up to 1024 x 768.

There are also minor changes in game mechanics, so playing may be a bit uncomfortable if’ you’ve played Space Cadet a lot..

Scores from Full Tilt! and Space Cadet are stored separately. There’s a bug in scores.  They won’t be saved unless you set Compatibility mode to Windows 95 in app properties.

Have a nice game:
